The Tarrazu region is located in the interior mountains of Costa Rica and is known for producing distinguished coffees which are typically heavy bodied with more complex aromas. This coffee is produced from the Caturra varietal which is a varietal closely related to red bourbon and is most prevalent in Costa Rica, Brazil, and Colombia. Caturra coffee typically has a short body, bright acidity, and sweet fruity notes. Tarrazu in particular has a short body with notes of barley and spice, a buttery chocolate follow through, and roasted nut finish.
